Emergency Dental Care in Toms River, NJ

Dental emergencies happen all the time and they can be very stressful, but incidents such as chipped tooth or bitten tongue usually look much worse than they actually are. There are certain measures you can take in these cases to prevent further damage and high restoration costs. Our dental experts will know best how to proceed in these unfortunate situations, so apply cold compresses on the affected area and call our office as soon as possible!

Temporary or permanent crown comes off

Cases of displaced crowns, whether permanent or temporary, are nothing unusual. If this happens, simply put the crown back on the tooth or bring it with you to your dental appointment.

Knocked Out or Fractured Tooth

With most dental emergencies, you can take your own immediate action to prevent further damage before you can get to the emergency office. However, contact our office in each case as soon as possible to restore your dental health in the most effective way.

Broken tooth

Broken teeth are not as unusual as one might think. If this occurs, apply a cold compress, use pain medication if necessary, and find an emergency office immediately. The dentist will smooth the affected tooth or otherwise repair it, depending on how damaged the affected area is.

Loosened primary tooth

Primary teeth can be loosened as a result of a new permanent tooth emerging or an injury. If this happens, first try to have your child bite into a piece of caramel or apple – separating a primary tooth from the gum is easier than you might think. If this doesn’t work, make an appointment with our office to get professional help.

Displaced tooth

Knocked out teeth are typically the result of a trauma or injury. Don’t panic, rinse your mouth with warm water to clear it from blood and debris, and put the tooth back into its socket. If this is not possible, immerse the tooth into a container with warm milk, saline or your own saliva and bring it to the emergency office. Remember to hold the tooth by the crown to avoid root damage. If you are in pain and there’s swelling, use Ibuprofen and a cold compress.
